Romantic Seattle Courthouse Elopement
Elopements are becoming more and more popular. In my experience, they are the most emotional, romantic and intimate wedding ceremonies that I’ve been honored to capture.
There are many reasons couples are choosing to tie the knot at the courthouse. Some are having destination weddings and want to legally get married in their home state. Others simply don’t have any interest in a larger wedding.
For whatever reason, it is still such a big day in your life and I of course believe it should be captured with photo and video!
Kun + Jian
I recently had the pleasure of capturing Kun and Jian’s beautiful downtown Seattle courthouse ceremony. It started as a rainy morning (no surprise for February in Seattle) and the rain cleared up right as the couple arrived for the portrait part of the day!

Everyone Arrives at the Courthouse
This is when I take a step back from directing the day and switch to simply capturing the moment! My goal is not just to capture images but to tell stories. From the nervous glances exchanged before the ceremony to the joyous tears that follow.
Kun and Jian were so excited as everyone started showing up to the courthouse. They even had everyone wear blue as their “something blue.” I’ve never seen that done before and just loved it!
The Ceremony
Kun had a dress change for the ceremony and I was just as obsessed with it as I was her first dress. It was such a beautiful ceremony, and their dog was the ring bearer. Cutest thing ever.
The Details
I loved all the little details they incorporated into their day. The guests wearing blue, Kun’s two dresses. And can you believe she also made her own flowers!? Obsessed.
